Princess Anne Police Department Dons Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

Princess Anne, Md. — For the second straight year, the Princess Anne Police Department will be wearing pink throughout the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Police Chief Robert Smith said the initiative is a way to show unity between the police department and the community. He added that the pink gear is a way to let the community know that the department cares about more than just enforcing the law.

“We’ve got a lot of really good feedback, both in person and on our social media outlets where people are supportive of this and they show their appreciation that we’re taking the time to show how important this is during the month of October,” Smith said.

The chief said supporting people dealing with a disease that impacts so many in the community is important for officers.

“Here at PAPD, we’re family. This is a family-oriented department. And I want our officers doing things together that mean something. And, with this, it brings unity, and it connects us with that community,” Smith said.
