Dover Man Pleads Guilty to Smyrna Assault, Kidnapping
SYMRNA, Del. – A Dover man has plead guilty to the assault and kidnapping of a Smyrna woman last summer.
The Delaware Department of Justice says 47-year-old Dallas Drummond plead guilty to charges of first degree kidnapping, first degree assault, strangulation, and related weapons charges on Oct. 6. His conviction follows his arrest by the Smyrna Police Department on Jul. 1, 2025.
“The victim showed remarkable courage and ingenuity here – and now, thanks in large part to her efforts, the defendant isn’t going to be able to hurt anyone else,” said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “I’m grateful for the diligent, painstaking work undertaken by our DOJ trial team, the Smyrna Police Department, the Dover Police Department, the Delaware State Police, and Delaware Probation and Parole that brought her attacker to justice.”
On Jun. 24, 2025, Drummond assaulted a female victim in Smyrna, holding her captive in an apartment. The victim subsequently fought back, breaking free of her restraints and escaping by jumping out of a window. After fleeing to a neighbor’s house, the neighbor called 911, prompting SPD to launch an investigation with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies. Drummond was eventually arrested at the 5500 block of South Dupont Highway in Dover by detectives a week later.
