Dover 16-Year-Old Arrested on Felony Gun Charges Following Shots Fired Incident

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 16-year-old male from Dover on felony gun offenses following a shots fired incident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Troopers say the teen was charged with possession or control of a firearm by a person under 21, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of an untraceable firearm. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance to a parent or guardian.

On Sept. 30, around 1:00 a.m., a trooper was on foot patrol on Generals Way in Generals Green when he heard a gunshot. When additional troopers arrived, they saw a male, later identified as the 16-year-old suspect, on an electric bicycle and tried to pull it over. While fleeing from authorities, the teen tried to ride over a curb but fell off the bicycle. While being taken into custody, a polymer 9mm handgun with no serial number fell out of his waistband.
