Delaware Hosts Statewide Job Fair in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del.– The Delaware Department of Human Resources hosted it’s fourth and final statewide career fair of the year with the goal of connecting youth, adult, and justice-involved job seekers with career opportunities in state government.

Victoria Hance with the Department of Social Services explains what makes this job fair different then ones in the past.

“If someone has never attended one of our job fairs, this one is a little more intimate,” Hance said. “There’s a lot of tables and people you can speak to and plenty of jobs that you can actually apply for on the spot today.”

Gina Aurora with the Delaware Department of Labor says that everyone deserves a chance of employment even after incarceration.

“The Department of Labor, we help everyone, regardless of their background, their age, or their work status,” Aurora said. “We also focus on those who are justice involved. Our apex program is helping clients reduce that burden by offering free pardon and also expungement services.”

For recrutiment manager for the state of Delaware Health and Social Services Germaine Harris she says she believes everyone should go through the hiring process.

“We believe everyone should get a fair chance,” Harris said. “We encourage you to go through the process to apply and interview and then let the agency walk you through the proper channels.
