Crisfield City Council Meets After Flooding
Crisfield, Md. — The City of Crisfield is looking to address issues surrounding flooding after last week’s storm. During Wednesday night’s regular council meeting — officials discussed the impact floods had on the city’s public utilities system.
Councilman Casey Goldsborough had concerns about residents driving through the flooded streets, causing wakes and damaging properties.
Brian Fowler, director of public works in Crisfield, told the council that one person had taken a sign signifying the flooding and thrown it into someone’s yard so they could proceed down a road.
Goldsborough said that the city should look into adding more signs directing people to not drive down flooded streets and raising fines for individuals who don’t obey them.
“When we get the flooding, we all know what water on the roads looks like. There’s not a need for so many people to drive by. The majority of people that reached out to me during the flood didn’t have an issue until people drove through. Then it would ruin their garage or ruin their shed. That is the biggest issue,” Goldsborough said.
