Cambridge Signs Agreement for CWDI
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The City of Cambridge is taking big steps towards redeveloping the city’s waterfront and bringing the Cambridge Harbor vision to life.
“We’ve been waiting for this day for a few years now,” says CWDI President, Angie Hengst.
That’s the feeling from local leaders at all levels as the City of Cambridge pens an agreement with Ocean City based Pinnacle Hospitality to build a hotel as part of the Cambridge Waterfront, and it’s a landmark agreement.
Angie tells WMDT, “It’s huge. It’s it’ll be the first vertical development for the site. It’ll really set the tone for the rest of the site. So developers are watching. You know, we have a, you know, development package out to potential developers…”
CWDI hopes the agreement with Pinnacle to build the hotel is going to be a driving factor in bringing more money into Downtown Cambridge.
“It will bring, a transient group of people in and out of this hotel that will have a path to our downtown shops and restaurants, that also will hopefully, invest in real estate…” says Cambridge City Commissioner, Brian Roche.
With the agreement between Pinnacle and Cambridge signed, it means the timeline becomes a little more clear.
Pinnacle Owner, Tauhid Islam says, “Now I’m waiting to put shovel on the ground. So excited about the future, the next 12 months to get, permitting, site plans, everything actually situated and taken care of.”
CWDI says the timeline for the groundbreaking is to hold the ceremony in the next 12-18 months.
