DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is investigating a burglary at a local aquarium store after employees reported one of their axolotls was missing.

Officers responded to Super Cichlids on Monday, Oct. 5, just after 11:50 a.m. after damage to the front door of the business was discovered. The investigation determined that a suspect broke the glass door and entered the business at approximately 8:00 p.m. the previous evening. Police determined that the suspect remained inside for approximately 40 minutes before leaving.

While no items were initially reported missing, store representatives notified police on Oct. 9 that inventory was missing — including an axolotl, a type of aquatic salamander pet.

The suspect was described as a young African-American man. He has not been identified at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 302-736-7111.
