UPDATE: The Delaware State Police have identified 46-year-old Douglas Vitale from Dover as the man who died in the single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning in Hartly.

This crash remains under investigation.

 

HARTLY, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning in Hartly.

On Oct. 4, around 5:10 a.m., a Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on Arthursville Road, when it failed to negotiate a slight curve, exited the south side of the road, struck a tree, and caught fire.

The driver, a 46-year-old man from Dover, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
