Talbot Co. Celebrate Planting of Liberty Tree

(CORDOVA, Md) – Another Eastern Shore County planted a little piece of American history.

Frederick Douglas Park in Talbot County hosted their Liberty Tree Planting Ceremony Thursday morning.

Its all part of a larger effort called the Liberty Tree project to plant seedlings from Maryland’s original Liberty Tree in all 23 counties plus Baltimore City.

And it’s perfect symbolism for the Liberty Tree to be planted in a place in honor of Frederick Douglas.

“You know, it comes with good timing as far as, Frederick Douglass and the self liberation, during these days. So we’ve picked that significantly to coincide with that time. It’s really important and meaningful to all of us in this county, and we’re just happy to be part of it,” says Talbot County Tourism Director, Stephanie Mervine.
