Philadelphia Semi-Truck Driver Charged after Fatal Crash in Accomack Co.

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. – The Virginia State Police have charged a Philadelphia man in connection with a fatal car crash that occurred Friday in Accomack County.

Police have charged 26-year-old Mamurjon Djumabaev with involuntary manslaughter and reckless driving resulting in injury or death. 

On Sept. 18, at 4:41 a.m., troopers responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash at the intersection of northbound Route 13 and Baylys Neck Road. The crash involved a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Djumabaev, and a 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup truck. Details about the crash are limited at this time.

Authorities say the Nissan’s operator, an adult male, was transported to a hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. The passenger, identified as 59-year-old Marie R. Normil, of Accomack County, sustained fatal injuries. Her next of kin has been notified.
