“Pause, Reflect, Protect”, Maryland Libraries Ban Together to Prevent Scams

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Maryland Libraries are coming together to help educate on common scams.  

The S.A.F.E series, which stands for Scam Awareness and Financial Education, is in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Labor, and is offered through a variety of liberaries in the state, including Worcester County.

Shea Morse is the coordinator of public services at the host library in Allegany County, and helped to coordinate the event.

“Pause, reflect and protect.” Said Morse.  “So just really trying to, you know, if we get anything out and distill it down to that really basic message where, you know, just those three words should be able to give some people, some tips and some framework to help protect themselves online.”

Todays lecture discussed red flags, including crypto currency transfers, and helped attendees practice strategies to avoid scams.

The series will continue with an event each month, the next one, “Maryland Cottage Food Business”, will be hosted on Oct. 21st, in Charles County, or on zoom.
