Onancock Man Arrested for Threatening to Shoot Family Member

ONANCOCK, Va. – The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Onancock man after they say he threatened to shoot his family member and another individual on Facebook.

Deputies arrested 40-year-old Christopher Joseph Armstrong one count of threats of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family and one count of use of profane, threatening, or indecent language over public airways or by other methods. He was transported to the Accomack County Jail where he was held without bond. Authorities say further charges are pending after consultation with the Accomack County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

On Monday afternoon, just before 2:10 p.m., ACSO was contacted by a citizen who reported observing a Facebook post made by a user that included a racial reference and a threat to shoot another individual and a family member. Deputies immediately reviewed the page and observed multiple posts depicting an individual posing with what appeared to be a firearm and determined the page owner to be Armstrong.

Deputies obtained warrants for Armstrong’s arrest, and conducted a call-out at his residence around 5:10 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident. The residence was secured until an after-hours search warrant was obtained.

During the search of Armstrong’s residence, multiple firearms and a cellular device were seized.
