Milford Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Meth Trafficking, Gun Charges

MILFORD, Del. – A Milford man plead guilty to charges in connection with federal drug trafficking on Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, 54-year-old Charles Meritt waived indictment and pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person on Sept. 29. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. A federal district court judge will determine Meritt’s sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

According to court documents, on Mar. 16, 2026, Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed a federal search warrant at Meritt’s residence. In his bedroom, agents recovered more than 2.5 kilograms, or roughly 5.5 pounds, of methamphetamine, more than 600 grams of cocaine, six firearms, a scale, and packaging materials.
