Lincoln Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges After Police Pursuit Ends in Crash in Milton
MILTON, Del. – The Delaware State Police arrested a Lincoln man on felony drug charges following a high-speed chase that ended with a crash in Milton.
Troopers arrested 30-year-old Jaquell McDonald on charges of possession with intent to deliver a tier three quantity of a controlled substance, two counts of third degree vehicular assault, attempting to commit tampering with physical evidence, and related drug crimes and traffic offenses. He was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction on $75,514 cash bond.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1:25 p.m., a trooper saw a Maserati Levante speeding northbound on Coastal Highway near Deep Branch Road. The trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it sped away.
During an ensuing pursuit, troopers say the Maserati drove recklessly and at a high rate of speed on Coastal Highway and several area roads, ultimately coming to a stop after colliding with a Nissan Rogue at Union Street Extended. After the collision the driver of the Maserati, identified as McDonald, ran away and was seen discarding approximately 60.76 grams of cocaine. He was taken into custody without incident.
During a subsequent search of the Maserati, troopers found approximately 46.75 grams of marijuana, $5,696 in suspected drug proceeds, and fake driver’s licenses from Arizona and Nevada.
The driver and passenger of the Nissan, a 65-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, both from Pennsylvania, had minor injuries but refused transport to the hospital.
The roadway was closed(Opens in a new window.) for an extended time while the scene was investigated and cleared.
