Lewes Man Arrested on Drug, Gun Charges Following Search Warrant
LEWES, Del. – The Delaware State Police (DSP) have arrested a man on felony gun and drug charges after conducting a search warrant at his residence in Lewes.
Troopers arrested 46-year-old Christopher Smith on the following charges:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control a Deadly Weapon, Semi Auto or Auto, By Person Prohibit Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance
- Two Counts of Possess, Purchase, Own, or Control of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Prior Violent Crime or Felony
- Manufacture, Deliver, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity
- Unlawful to Knowingly Operate or Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Laboratory
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Unlawfully Dealing with a Child – Permits a Child to Remain in Place where Sex or Narcotics or Dangerous Drug Activity
Smith was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction on a $46,000 secured bond.
On Sept. 10, members of the Sussex County Special Investigations Unit and the DSP Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 30000 block of Pinetown Road in Lewes. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation into Smith for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, Smith was detained without incident, and a child was in the residence at the time.
A search of the residence led to the discovery of a .22 caliber handgun and associated ammunition, in addition to 12-gauge ammunition. Troopers also found approximately 11.60 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, including digital scales and a Pyrex container with white residue. A total of $1,052.00 in suspected drug proceeds was also located.
