Juvenile Arrested after Shooting Threats Made Against Nandua Middle & High Schools

ONLEY, Va. – The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) has arrested a juvenile in connection with shooting threats made against Nandua Middle and High Schools on social media.

On Sunday evening, Accomack County Public Schools (ACPS) announced that they were aware of a threat of violence circulating on social media, and that it was in the process of being investigated by law enforcement. As a precaution, school officials said there would be an increased law enforcement presence at Nandua High School and Nandua Middle School on Monday.

A couple of hours later, ACSO announced that they had made an arrest in connection with the threats, but because the individual charged was a juvenile, no identifying information would be released. Authorities also stated that their investigation was ongoing, and that they would continue with increased law enforcement presence at Nandua Middle and High Schools.

“We appreciate the cooperation of our students, parents, school staff, and community throughout this investigation,” ACSO said in a statement on social media. “Your willingness to provide information and allow investigators to do their work is an important part of keeping our schools and community safe.”

ACPS thanked ACSO for their response to the threat, saying the safety, security, and welfare of the district’s students remains their highest priority.
