Governor Meyer Announces Nearly $23M for Federally Qualified Health Centers

GEORGETOWN, Del.– Governor Matt Meyer announces twenty three million dollars to ensure that every Delawarean is a healthy Delawarean.

The funding is part of Delaware’s rural health transformation program which is focused on improving healthcare access and delivery to rural communities.

Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services in Delaware Christen Linke Young says this is a historic investment.

“We are here today to announce Delaware’s historic investment in our three federally qualified health centers,” Young said. “These clinics provide care to people regardless of the ability to pay up and down Delaware. We are thrilled to be investing in transformation that will help them deliver the care of their patients need.”

Governor Matt Meyer says this funding is a big deal because he believes all Delawareans should have access to healthcare.

“These are the health centers serving people who are our most vulnerable who do not have health insurance who are being cut off,” Meyer said. “What we are saying is in Delaware is you should get healthcare. Not only should you get the best healthcare, the highest quality equipment with the highest quality provider.”

For CEO of La Red Rachel Hersh is excited about the new funding allowing them to provide an overall better experience to their patients.

“The thing that the patients are going to notice the most is more efficient visits,” Hersh said. “So it’ll help them to communicate in a whole other forum that they don’t have right now and give them access to their actual appointment scheduling that they just dont have currently.”
