Easton Utilities to Solicit Help from U.S. Department of War

EASTON, Md. – Energy company Easton Utilities has announced plans to solicit help from the U.S. Department of War to improve their cyber defense.

The company says they are reaching out through the Innovative Readiness Training Program, which will engage the Maryland National Guard Cyber Force to assess and improve the current cyber defense posture. Easton Utilities says they plan to use the program as a model to help protect other U.S. electric utilities and the electric grid from nation-state attacks.

The collaboration would begin in the 4th quarter of 2026, extending through 2027.

Easton Utilities asks anyone with questions or anyone who opposes the plan to contact Fred Christie at fchristie@eucmail.com over the next three days, or by Sept. 19. The company says those not filing comment within the specified time dram will be considered to have waived their objections to the Department of War’s participation in the project.
