Easton one step closer to completing park

Easton, Md. – Easton residents are one step closer to completing a new park.

Three years ago, the town of Easton purchased 200 acres for Woodland Park with the help of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Talbot County.

WMDT spoke with the Mayor of Easton, Megan Cook, who says they are asking the governor for funding to complete the development, add a trail and a more accessible public entrance. Funding would also go towards a bathroom and a parking lot.

“We’re asking the governor for $1.5 million, which will basically finish off that back 30 acres and include the road that we need to build,” she said. “It’s a beautiful location, and it preserves that green space, coming down Oxford Road.”

She described the project as a “win-win” for the community.

“I think it’s going to be it’s going to be our largest park. I think it’s going to be well received,” she said. “I think the community’s going to love it.”
