Dorchester Co. Going Purple for Overdose Awareness

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Dorchester County is going purple this weekend for National Recovery Month.

The eleventh annual Recovery Works event kicks off this Saturday afternoon, September 12th.

The event, hosted by the Dorchester County Health Department and DRI-Dock Recovery Center, includes free food, music, games, raffles, community resource vendors, and inspiring messages from speakers and performers who want to share their recovery stories.

Festivities begin at noon at the city lot on the corner of cedar and race streets in Cambridge.

“So the lived experience really sets the tone for those that are listening, that, recovery is possible. And by seeing folks that are in active recovery, that stigma doesn’t define who we are and doesn’t define who we can become,” says Health Department Peer Recovery Specialist, Amber Werner.
