Innkeepers Brentley Stewart and Stephanie Herzog offer something that isn’t about disconnecting, but reconnecting with life.
“You can truly feel like you’re away from everything. It’s so quiet here that you can actually come here, like I was telling you before, recharge your batteries, but truly feel like you’re escaping. We have creative people here. We have people that come here to write or to be inspired, and then we also have musicians that will come here and literally write music on this porch.”, Brentley tells WMDT.
And it’s not just for working artists. Anyone can create here.
Stephanie tells WMDT, “With our new music and arts parlor, we’re creating an open space for people to be creative on a variety of levels.”
But for Stephanie and Brentley, their creativity flows from the kitchen.
“I feel like I was born to be a nana, and all of the kids come and I get to make them delicious food.”, says Stephanie.
“Yeah, we’ll grow the majority of the stuff here. We have a rooftop garden, we have the gardens here. We’re not growing, we’re getting from, you know, we have a gardener down the street.”, says Brentley.
For Brentley and Stephanie, it’s not about running a hotel. It’s about preserving a way of life.
“We love antiques, we love the older ways of doing things. We even love, you know, the romantic notion of, you know, innkeeping and bed and breakfast. so we want to keep that alive.”
