Public Hearing on Proposed Service Changes to DART System

GEORGETOWN, Del.– DART announces changes to their statewide bus service and held a public hearing in Georgetown.

The purpose of the hearing was to give the public a chance to weigh in on the proposed changes.

Planning and Development Manager Tremika Cherry-Wall says the new changes should allow more people in the community to have easier access to transportation.

“People will be able to use this somewhat like an uber transit type service where they’ll be if they’re in this zone,” Cherry-Wall said. “This opens up access to more people in the community to have better access to transportation.”

Another change in the proposal is giving more flexibility in how people can reserve rides.

“They are able to go anywhere within this zone,” Cherry-Wall said. “They can call the same day, and get a bus to come pick them up and it gives them access to our two tweleve route if they need to go outside the zone.”

After the public hearing concluded the next step is review the feedback.

“We go back to the office and review the comments,” Cherry-Wall said. “Whether the comments are from the public hearing, email, or phone anyway they can get us their comments before September eighth we will take them under consideration.”

If the current proposal is approved the changes are scheduled to take effect November 15, 2026.
