Worcester Co. Animal Control “Protecting Worcester County Wildlife Starts At Home”

SNOW HILL, Md. – Worcester County Animal Control reminds residents that “protecting Worcester County Wildlife starts at home.”

Glen Grandstaff is the Chief Animal Control Officer at Worcester County Animal Control, and explained the importance of this messaging.

“Not leaving cat food out on your back porch overnight.” Said Grandstaff. “I mean, you’d be suprised at how much, that would limit, animals coming into your yard and being a nuisance, aggressive animals. You know. There are some aggressive animals out there and we want to protect the citizens.”

The county’s animal control department advises residents to take a few simple steps to prevent attracting wild animals to their homes. They say to secure garbage, feed pets indoors, and close off easy entry access to your home.

WCAC emphasizes the importance in reducing unnecessary wildlife trapping, because under Maryland state permits, nuisance wildlife cannot be relocated, and must either be released back to the original trapping location, or humanely euthanized.
