UPDATE: Hartly Man Arrested for Multiple Shooting Incidents
UPDATE: The Delaware State Police have arrested a man in connection with shooting incidents that occurred Thursday night and last month in Hartly.
Troopers arrested 24-year-old Dakota Carey of Hartly on seven counts of first degree reckless endangerment, two counts of discharging a firearm at a dwelling, three counts of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, and related charges. Carey has since been arraigned and released after posting a $26,500 secured bond.
On Aug. 13, around 8:30 p.m., troopers responded to the unit block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly for a reported shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that unknown suspect fired an unknown number of shots, striking an occupied residence. No injuries were reported.
While troopers and detectives were on scene, additional shots were heard and rounds struck tree branches overhead. It was discovered that the shots were coming from a residence nearby on Judy’s Truck Drive. When troopers arrived at the second residence, they saw a man, identified as Carey, exiting a detached garage with what appeared to be a gun. He was taken into custody without incident.
Troopers further determined that Carey was the suspect in the shooting incident that occurred on the same road at the end of July.
HARTLY, Del. — Delaware State Police are we once investigating an overnight shooting that damaged an occupied home in Hartly early Thursday morning.
Troopers responded to the unit block of Slaughter Station Road at approximately 5:40 a.m. on July 30 after receiving a report of a shooting.
According to investigators, unknown suspects fired an undetermined number of shots at the residence sometime during the overnight hours. Multiple rounds struck the home while it was occupied.
Police said no injuries were reported.
