Rehoboth Beach Mayoral Elections on Aug. 8

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.– Saturday August 8th is election day in Rehoboth Beach, where voters will choose the city’s next mayor and fill two commissioner seats.

Four candidates are running for mayor- Commissioners Suzanne Goode, William “Jake” Raak, Susan Stewart, and Craig Thier.

Goode has served on the Rehoboth Beach Stormwater Task Force in 2022. She also participated on a Rehoboth Beach homeowners association committee to produce a pedestrian/cyclist brochure in 2021.  Her top three campaign issues are controlling city spending, maintaining roads and sidewalks, and improving the downtown boardwalk area.

Raak is a first time candidate. He believes effective leadership starts with listening. He is launching a 1,000 Conversations about Rehoboth’s Future, a listening tour to hear directly from residents their hopes, concerns, and ideas for the city.  Reviewing how taxpayer money is spent, making permits faster, and updating building rules are his top three campaign issues.

Stewart is a member of the Board of Trustees at Ursinus College where she helps support higher education and the development of future leaders. She is currently a city and planning commissioner and has also served on the Rehoboth Beach Stormwater Task Force. Her main campaign issues are keeping the city’s finances strong, fixing infrastructure to reduce flooding, and bolster local businesses and tourism.

Thier currently serves as a member of the Rehoboth Beach Board of Commissioners. His top three concerns are lowering water and sewer fees, updating, outdated city rules and focusing on beach preservation and tourism.

The three candidates for the two commissioner seats up for grabs are Jeffery Goode, commissioner Patrick Gossett, and commissioner Mark Saunders.

Voting will take place from 10 am to 6 pm at the Rehoboth Beach convention center.
