Harlem Wizards takeover Fruitland vs the hometown Supersonics
FRUITLAND, Md. – In an exciting event hosted by the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club, the Harlem Wizards competed against a host of local figures, business owners, and community members. The team was called the Supersonics.
The 5th annual celebrity basketball game was a fundraiser for the club.
Crown Sports Center was the site,The Wizards came out on a mission, you know, lighting up the gym with high-flying plays.
The Wizards were also able to get the kids in the crowd involved.
At the final buzzer, it was the Harlem Wizards coming out on top. Don Murphy of the Sunrise Rotary Club said everyone is a winner.
“When these Wizards take the floor, it’s all about the kids. The kids had a wonderful time here today. The Harlem Wizards put on just a tremendous show and their whole business model is, to work with nonprofits. They do this all over the country.”
Murphy said there is nothing like doing this event for the community.
“Yeah, it’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club, helping them give back to the community through other nonprofit partners and with college scholarships. We try to promote literacy and education. After today, we will definitely be planning our next year’s event.”
