Former Wi-Hi Teacher Indicted on Sexual Abuse, Solicitation of a Minor
SALISBURY, Md. – A grand jury has indicted a former Wicomico High School (WHS) teacher in connection with sexually abusing a student.
On Aug. 24, 31-year-old Chance Michael Hogue of Salisbury was indicted on the following charges:
- Two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor
- Two counts of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor
- Two counts of Sexual Solicitation of a Minor
- Two counts of Sexual Offense in the Fourth Degree
- Two counts of Attempted Sexual Offense in the Fourth Degree
Hogue is currently being held without bond pending trial.
On Aug. 11, the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center initiated an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving Hogue and a minor child.
During their investigation, detectives developed evidence that Hogue sexually abused and exploited the victim during the time he was employed by Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS). The victim was a student at WHS, at the same time Hogue was employed as a teacher at the high school.
Investigators also determined that Hogue began employment with WCPS in 2021. Before working as a teacher at WHS for approximately three years, he worked at Choices Academy, a public alternative school in the county.
WMDT has confirmed with WCPS that Hogue is no longer employed by the school district.
In a statement shared with WHS families, WHS Principal Dr. Undrea “Nikki” Blake said WCPS is cooperating fully with all investigative agencies, but would not be providing additional details at this time.
“We remain committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for all students and to ensuring compliance with all legal and professional requirements,” Principal Blake said, in part.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these allegations, and are seeking information regarding any additional incidents or potential offenses involving Hogue.
