UPDATE: Pair Arrested in Connection with Emerald Pointe Shooting
UPDATE: The Dover Police Department has arrested two teenage suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred in the Emerald Pointe community in June.
On Aug. 1, patrol officers arrested 18-year-old Tyion Bailey on charges of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of first degree reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief over $5,000. He remains in custody at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $69,000 cash bond.
On Aug. 3, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old male from Dover. The juvenile suspect was already in custody at Stevenson House on unrelated charges. He faces the same charges as Bailey, in addition to one count of second degree conspiracy and one count of possessing a firearm by a person prohibited.
Police say they were able to identify suspects wanted in connection with this shooting following an extensive investigation, which included the recovery of 24 shell casings.
DOVER, Del. — Dover Police are investigating a shooting that damaged an occupied home in the Emerald Pointe community early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Topaz Circle at approximately 4:56 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of shots fired, according to police.
Investigators determined that one or more unknown suspects fired multiple rounds at a residence around 4:52 a.m. The home was occupied at the time by a 66-year-old man, a 51-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man. No injuries were reported.
Police said the residence sustained at least 21 bullet strikes to its exterior. During a canvass of the area, officers recovered multiple spent shell casings from a nearby property.
No suspects have been identified, and a motive for the shooting has not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
