Dover Police Arrest Third Suspect in 2024 Christmas Eve Homicide

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department has arrested a third teenage suspect in connection with the 2024 Christmas Eve shooting that claimed the life of 14-year-old Juwan Walker.

The Dover Police Department has continued its investigation into Walker’s death and, on Aug. 10, obtained an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old suspect. On Aug. 13, the suspect was taken into custody without incident at his residence in Pennsylvania by members of the Middle PA/Harrisburg Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from Dover Police detectives.

Upon his extradition to Delaware, the 16-year-old male will be charged with second degree murder, first degree conspiracy, possessing a deadly weapon and ammunition by a person under 18, and related gun charges.

This is the third arrest in connection with Walker’s homicide. On Dec. 28, 2024, Dover Police arrested a then 15-year-old male and 13-year-old male, both of Dover, in connection with the shooting. They were both charged with second degree murder, first degree conspiracy, first degree reckless endangerment, and related gun charges; and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $181,000 cash bail pending a trial.

On Dec. 24, 2024, detectives say Walker was sitting in a parked vehicle when two Black males approached him. One of the suspects then fired several rounds at the vehicle, striking the Walker, and left the area on foot. Walker was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus in a privately owned vehicle before being flown to a New Castle County Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 27, 2024.
