Delmarva Power Crews Heading to Illinois Following Severe Storms

DELMARVA – Delmarva Power is lending a hand during a trying time in Illinois.

27 Local Delmarva Power employees are traveling to the state to provide assistance after severe thunderstorms downed trees and damaged infrastructure.

Officials say approximately 257,000 customers are without power.

The crews hail from Rockville and Newark and will remain onsite for a week to assess damage and help restore power.

Additional storm forecasts are predicted for the area Thursday.

“A trip like this, it means a lot cause we get a lot of help when we get hit,” said Jamie Engel, Delmarva Power Distribution Supervisor. “We’ve had a rough couple of past months in our district and we’ve had help from others so, we got to repay the favor.”

The crews will be joined alongside Exelon sister utilities Atlantic City Electric, PECO and Pepco.
