Community Health Workers Celebrated

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The last week of August is National Community Health Worker Awareness Week and one local group is saying thank you.

The Eastern Shore Area Health Education Center is thanking health workers throughout the week for all they do for the community

Executive Director of the AHEC Lisa Widmaier spoke with us about how essential healthcare workers are, especially on the Eastern Shore.

“There are so many other professions that get a day that we celebrate, or a week, and have never really gotten this recognition before. So it’s important that, we have this day to recognize them, to celebrate them, and, to spread awareness of CHWs.” says Lisa.

The AHEC was also presented with an Official Citation recognizing Eastern Shore AHEC and National Community Health Worker Awareness Week.
