UPDATE: Magnolia Man Arrested for Three Consecutive Armed Robberies in Dover

UPDATE: The Delaware State Police have charged a Magnolia man in connection with a third armed robbery after he was arrested by Dover Police on Wednesday.
Troopers charged 67-year-old Donald Johnson on charges of first degree robbery, possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, and theft under $1,500. He was arraigned and committed to the Department of Correction on a $127,000 cash bond.
On Tuesday, Jul. 28, at approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers responded to the Valero located on South Dupont Highway in Dover for a report of an armed robbery. An investigation revealed that an unknown white male suspect, wearing dark clothing, entered the store with a large knife and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk was unable to open the register and the suspect fled, but not before stealing a pack of chewing gum. No one was injured.
During the investigation, detectives learned of two similar robberies(Opens in a new window.) that occurred a short time later in the City of Dover.
With the assistance of the Dover Police Department, state police detectives identified Johnson as the suspect in the robbery and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department has arrested a Magnolia man in connection with back-to-back robberies that occurred Tuesday night.
Police arrested 67-year-old Donald Johnson on two counts of first degree robbery, possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and aggravated menacing.
On Jul. 28, around 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar General located on South DuPont Highway for the report of an armed robbery. Officers learned the suspect entered the store, allegedly displayed what was described as a large hunting-style knife, demanded money and threatened to stab an employee when told the register could not be accessed. The suspect fled the business with merchandise, but with no cash.
Ten minutes later, officers responded to D&D Liquors, also located on South DuPont Highway, for another robbery. During that incident, the suspect kept his hand inside a pocket while claiming it was a robbery, leading the employee to believe he was armed with a firearm. The suspect proceeded to reach over the counter, removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and fled the business.
Through their investigation, detectives determined both robberies were committed by the same suspect and identified him as Johnson. He was taken into custody at his residence in Magnolia the following morning.
