UPDATE: An 18-year-old has died from his injuries following a shooting that occurred in Dover last weekend.

On Thursday, police announced that Christopher Waters of Dover was the victim shot in the 400 block of Kent Avenue on Jun. 28. Police say Waters succumbed to his injuries at 12:30 a.m. on Jul. 2, causing the incident to now be classified as a homicide investigation.

Additionally, investigators say they recovered a black Honda Accord believed to be connected to the incident following the Jun. 28 shooting. The vehicle was found burned in a field on Andrews Lake Road in the Felton area, and is being processed as part of the ongoing investigation.

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At 12:13 a.m. on Jun. 28, officers responded to a rear alley in the 400 block of Kent Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the 18-year-old male victim in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim until emergency medical personnel arrived.

The victim was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital where authorities say he is in critical condition. Investigators at the scene located more than 30 shell casings from the incident.
