TidalHealth Mobile Mammography Visits Pocomoke City

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – The TidalHealth Mobile Mammography, which launched on Jul. 7th, made it’s first stop in Pocomoke City today.

The mobile machinery brings breast cancer screenings to regions that may not have nearby access to mammography.

Kathyrn Fiddler is the VP of Population Health for TidalHealth, and explained the need for a service such as this.

“There’s still a significant portion of women who are unable to have access to mammography.” Said Fiddler. “And so we thought hearing lots of feedback from the community over the past couple of years, that if we had a way to bring mammography to women, they would be able to get that testing.”

The project aims to help women get the care they need without the added stress of travel, arranging child care or taking time off of work.

“So we know that women are caregivers, but we often put ourselves last when there’s a lot of things to do.” Said Fiddler. “And so that’s what we’re really looking for is a way to help women have something far more convenient so that it doesn’t have to be a choice”

The project was complete through one million dollars raised through donors and community fundraising. The unit features advanced 3D mammography technology that is run by experienced technologists.

Appointments are required for screenings. To plan a visit or check upcoming locations and dates, visit tidalhealth.org.
