Three People, Eight Pets Displaced After Grease Fire Damages Cambridge Home

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Three people and eight pet dogs have been displaced after a grease fire damaged a home in Cambridge on Tuesday night.
Just before 11:50 p.m. on Jun. 30, crews with the Rescue Fire Company and other local departments responded to a two-story house in the 900 block of Central Avenue. An occupant reportedly discovered the fire while cooking with grease in the kitchen. One occupant suffered a minor burn injury and was treated by EMS on the scene.
The fire was extinguished in 50 minutes by a total of 45 firefighters. The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $130,000.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal determined the fire to be accidental in nature. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
