Pets Rescued, Four Displaced in Dorchester Co. House Fire

RHODESDALE, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the preliminary cause of a house fire that displaced four on Saturday evening.

Just before 6:45 p.m. on Jul. 18, crews with the Eldorado-Brookview Volunteer Fire Company and other area companies responded to a two-story house in the 6200 block of Eldorado Federalsburg Road for a reported fire. The blaze was discovered by a neighbor after severe storms had been occurring in the area. 

A total of 45 firefighters battled the flames for two hours before extinguishing it. No one was home at the time of the fire, and multiple pets were rescued from the burning home by responders. The total damage to the home and its contents is estimated to be valued at $250,000.

The displaced family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
