(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – For four years, members of the Cambridge community in need have walked through the doors of One Mission Cambridge, giving people a peaceful atmosphere to receive a helping hand.

With many getting help with their food pantry.

People like Diana Harris, who says she feels seen by the help during tough times.

She tells WMDT, “I feel very appreciate it. And it’s like you said, it’s really helpful when you’re down and out. And right now, I don’t have a job. I’m in the middle finding a job.”

While Tysheika Waples of Cambridge says, “It’s a blessing. They’re godsend when you are down on your luck. No food, nothing to drink. You know, you got kids. They’re there to be able to help. And I’m kind of some times where it’s been almost twice in one month and I’m like, look, I’m out of food again. And they’re always willing to help.”

Food isn’t the only assistance they provide.

As One Mission has helped with getting people in touch with resources, or even offering shelter on the hottest days.

Whether someone has been coming for two weeks or two years…the impact that One Mission has had on people can’t be understated.

“I come here periodically, basically to see the staff because I communicate with the staff. And I’ve always acknowledged their vision for this here mission,” says Kevin Raley, whose been getting help for the past two years from One Mission.

“I don’t feel embarrassed to come here like some people might feel embarrassed to get help. I used to feel like that. But since I came here, I don’t feel like that much,” says Diana.
