Multiple Homes, Cars Damaged After Shooting in Dover

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that damaged 10 cars and five homes late Monday afternoon.

At 5:11 p.m. on Jul. 6, officers responded to the area of East Broadstairs Place in the Village of Westover following reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located approximately 40 spent shell casings in the roadway. Despite the large number of damaged vehicles and houses, no injuries were reported.

A preliminary investigation and video surveillance indicate that a maroon colored SUV was traveling through the area when several suspects exited a dark-colored sedan and opened fire on the SUV. Following the shooting, both vehicles fled the area before officers arrived. Police say neither vehicle has been located at this time.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Dover Police at (302) 736-7145. Tips may also be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online here.
