Lyft Driver Carjacked at Gunpoint in Frederica; DSP Investigating

KENT COUNTY, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking incident that occurred Saturday evening.

On Jul. 4, around 6:45 p.m., troopers responded to the first block of East Oak Street in Frederica for a reported carjacking. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim, an unidentified Lyft driver, picked up three unknown suspects in Dover and drove them to the first block of East Pine Street in Frederica.

While in the rear seat, one of the suspects allegedly displayed handgun before ordering the victim out of his car, while a second suspect climbed into the driver’s seat. The suspects fled the area in the victim’s car and with his cell phone. The Lyft driver was uninjured.

Police say all three suspects were described as wearing their hoods up with black masks covering their faces.
