Greensboro Man Arrested Following Two Attempted Burglaries

GREENSBORO, Md. – The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Greensboro man in connection with two attempted burglaries that occurred Sunday evening.

Deputies arrested 26-year-old Cristian Escalante Hernandez on two counts of third degree burglary, two counts of fourth degree burglary, and intoxicated public disturbance. He has since been arraigned and committed to the Caroline County Detention Center on no bond.

On Jul. 12, around 8:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 300 block of Church Street in Greensboro for a reported attempted burglary. While conducting the initial investigation, deputies received information regarding a second attempted burglary in the 300 block of Cedar Lane. With assistance from the Maryland State Police, deputies immediately canvassed the surrounding area and quickly located a male suspect matching descriptions provided by victims and witnesses.

The suspect, identified as Hernandez, fled on foot upon encountering law enforcement. During the pursuit, Hernandez was observed falling several times before being taken into custody. While being apprehended, Hernandez reportedly struck his head on the ground and displayed signs of alcohol impairment.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported Hernandez to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for a precautionary medical evaluation. After being medically cleared, Hernandez was transported to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
