Delaware State Fairgoers Share Their Memories
(HARRINGTON, Del) – From the livestock shows, to the rides of the midway, the Delaware State Fair has been exciting families for decades.
Families like the Wheeler family, where grandmother Mary, mother, Shannon and daughter Mercy.
Shannon tells WMDT, “The last six years. I’m not kidding. You. She’s gotten a goldfish. She’s one. And miraculously, they’re still alive, you know? So every it’s like a tradition every year now we try to get a goldfish.”
“Just being able to eat some of the different, fair food and try out different things. You’re going to get here like the, burger with the donut on. It was an interesting try. And, this year we tried the, gator, which all the kids like,” says Tre Kirby of Clayton.
Others, like Kaitln Schafer are once again showing off their half a dozen cows.
And there’s no shortage of favorite memories.
Kaitlyn recalls, “The kids will run through the wash racks and we’ll spraying from the outside. That’s always a fun memory. Or our first year here, our cow got out, and that was pretty interesting to try to catch her.”
And for some, they’re making those memories at this year’s fair with the people they care about.
11 year-old, Emma Sturgill and her friends say the best part is… “Probably hang out with your friends. Yeah, hanging out my friends and ride mine is definitely the ride. Yeah, I like the rides a lot. Like, I’m trying new, different, like foods…”
“I think today was my best memory made, and it’s because I get to hang out with my friends, and I feel like after the like, whenever you hang out with your friends, that makes the best memories. Like, I don’t got one specific memory,” says Dover’s Samyra Carry.
