Delaware State Fair Hosts Armed Services Day
(HARRINGTON, Del) – Whether active duty or reserve , Armed Services Day at the Delaware State Fair is certainly something special. Especially to those still serving.
Just ask Delaware National Guard Specialist, Edjewlyon Perez. He tells WMDT, ” I think it’s really cool. I think it’s it’s amazing how we can all come together, interact and come as one has one mind to give out information and a bunch of knowledge of what it’s like to be in the military where no matter what branch it is. It’s really cool being together because, you know, we know each other. Some of us have deployed together.”
And for some active duty service members getting to meet a few Delaware Veterans puts things into better perspective.
“I’m able to like see where they come from. These veterans have been in for like a couple of years and like from decades ago. So it’s already to see how things have changed in the military over time. I’ve seen a lot of Army veterans and Navy veterans,” says Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, Phillip Chen.
It’s also a chance for some inter-branch bonding in a much more loose atmosphere.
“It’s nice to be able to connect with the larger community and have them get to know us as well, because we do this with everybody we love and mine. And it’s nice to get names of faces and to get to meet some more people,” says National Guard Sergeant, Joel Logan.
Be sure to keep watching WMDT for the latest from the Delaware State Fair.
