DCPS to Launch THRIVE Initiative

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Dorchester County Public Schools are getting set to launch a new program ahead of the upcoming school year.

Called the THRIVE Initiative, the school system will be working with students at Choptank Elementary, Mace’s Lane Middle, and South Dorchester High Schools in order to combat childhood poverty.

We got to speak with Dorchester County Public Schools about launching the program in August. And how the four pillar program will seek to set students up for success, emphasizing community support to create a long-term impact.

“This program is really designed to, you know, advance student outcomes. Kind of as like a byproduct of advancing economic mobility in the 21613 area. So 21613 specifically is our area of highest concentrated poverty in Dorchester County,” says DCPS Public Information Officer, Casey O’Bier.

DCPS will be fully unveiling THRIVE on Tuesday, August 11th.
