Cambridge Awarded $1.15 Million for Cedar St.
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Funding is also coming to major connecting street in Cambridge.
Congressman Harris announced $1.15 million has been awarded to the City of Cambridge to complete planning and engineering for the gateway corridor project on Cedar Street.
The street, which connects Downtown Cambridge to Route 50 has been in need of repairs, and even had to be shut down due to a small sinkhole in 2025.
And Cambridge engineers tell us about the other issues lying beneath the pavement that will need work.
“The, underlying ground is giving away. The pipes are very old, and in need of replacement, because they’re so old. Water and sewage is leaking out. And then, you end up with a sinkhole in there,” says Cambridge City Engineer, Joel Leifer.
