Cambridge Discusses Sewer Upgrades

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – In Cambridge, the city is beginning the planning stages to update their storm and wastewater systems.

Planning is set to take around a year to prevent leaks from the Choptank River from getting into the city’s water treatment facilities, requiring extra work.

Work will also be done to address the sewer systems on streets that border the Choptank, and are often susceptible to flooding.

City Manager, Glenn Steckman says with the amount of water they’ve had to treat from the Choptank, those repairs, while not visible are absolutely needed.

Glenn tells WMDT, “We are treating millions of gallons of Choptank River water that’s pouring into those pipes through the manholes. All of that has to be part of this updating of our wastewater systems and also looking at some of our stormwater systems.”
