Brandywine Valley SPCA Welcomes Animal Rescue Flight amid Texas Flooding

NEW CASTLE, Del. – Amid catastrophic flooding hitting Texas, the Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) is stepping up to take in animals from the impacted areas.
On Monday, one of the first rescue flights carrying homeless shelter animals out of destruction arrived in Delaware. The Wings of Rescue flight, in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, brought dogs and cats who were already in shelters and available for adoption in Texas prior to the devastation. Homeless shelter animals are being moved out so shelters in the area can focus on reuniting pets found after the flooding with their owners, supporting impacted pet families in their communities, and repairing any damage they have suffered.

“Even with our own kennels full, when the call came asking for us to step up, we had to say yes,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO. “We are grateful to have multiple locations where we can welcome these pets and give them the promise of a new life and we know we can count on our community to support this important mission.”
To help make room and encourage more adoptions, Brandywine Valley SPCA, the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, and Animal Adoption Center are offering Pick Your Price adoption fees for all large adult dogs (1yr+ & 40lbs+) and adult cats (6mos+) from Jul. 21 through Jul. 26. BVSPCA is also kindly asking for donations to support their ongoing Texas flood relief efforts, which can be made here.
