Wicomico Sheriff Warns of Upticks in Car Break-Ins

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to remain vigilant following a recent increase of thefts from unsecured vehicles, particularly in
neighborhoods on the east side of Wicomico County.

Authorities say that during the overnight hours, the Kilbirnie subdivision and the Quail Ridge Drive area experienced multiple thefts from unlocked vehicles. The majority of the stolen property consisted of Apple electronic devices and accessories.

Investigators say the suspected thief is described as a tall, thin male wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black face covering. The investigation remains active, and investigators are working to identify the individual responsible.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to take the following precautions to help prevent vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even when parked in your driveway
  • Remove valuables from your vehicle or keep them out of sight
  • Never leave keys or key fobs inside an unattended vehicle
  • Report any suspicious persons or activity in your neighborhood immediately
