Wicomico Authorities Seize Cocaine, Firearms Following Drug Investigation

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County Joint Community Action Team (JCAT) has arrested a Salisbury man and seized more than 400 grams of cocaine following a months-long drug investigation.

Detectives have arrested 52-year-old Leander Lewis on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of drug manufacturing equipment, possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime, and related drug and firearms charges.

In February, detectives initiated an investigation into Lewis for the suspected distribution and manufacture of controlled dangerous substances within Wicomico County. As a result of the investigation, on May 28, members of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, JCAT, and the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team executed a residential search and seizure warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of South Delano Avenue. Lewis was taken into custody as he was leaving the residence during the execution of the warrant.

During a search of the residence, detectives uncovered and seized the following items:

  • One compressed brick of cocaine weighing 285.98 grams
  • Four bags containing manufactured crack cocaine weighing 83.8 grams
  • Two bags containing powder cocaine weighing 49.11 grams
  • Four bags of cannabis weighing 101.54 grams
  • $2,318 in U.S. currency
  • Drug manufacturing equipment and related paraphernalia
  • One SCCY 9mm handgun
  • One Ruger .380 caliber handgun
  • Numerous rounds of ammunition
  • Two vehicles
