Two Injured in Skydiving Accident at Ridgely Airport
RIDGELY, Md. – The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Ridgely Airport on Monday after a skydiving pair was injured.
At 1:43: p.m. on Jun. 1, deputies responded to the airport located on Race Track Road to learn that an unexpected gust of wind occurred during the descent phase of a tandem skydiving operation. The wind shift forced both skydivers downward at a steep angle, causing a hard impact with the ground.
One victim, identified as Jamy Lynne McDonongh, suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries, and was airlifted to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. A second victim, identified as Larry Lee Jackson, suffered significant leg injuries, and was transported by Caroline County paramedics to University of Maryland Eastern Shore Medical Center in Easton.
At this time, authorities say the incident appears to be weather-related, and no foul play is suspected.
