Teachers Who Make A Difference: A Teacher Who Creates A Culture Of Kindness
SALISBURY, Md. — We begin tonight with our latest edition of “Teacher Who Makes a Difference.” WMDT visited an educator whose No. 1 rule is kindness.
Sponsored by Pam Price and Associates.
At St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, kindergarten teacher Kathleen Hall has worked for 18 years.
“She’s very active in our church community. She makes learning fun each day and builds a strong foundation,” the nomination said.
Hall works hard every day to support her students while creating a culture of kindness.
“Just teaching them about kindness and then watching them be kind to each other — it’s amazing. It just makes for a joyful day every day because I get to see them being kind to each other,” Hall said.
Not only is she teaching kindness, but she’s also teaching her students to flourish.
“They really enjoy reading to me, and I enjoy watching them read. It’s probably the biggest gratification I can have during the year — watching them come in knowing their ABCs and their sounds and then, by the end of the year, they’re reading,” Hall said.
As much as hearing her students read brings her joy, being recognized for her efforts teaching young children is also special.
“It is amazing because, in our job, we don’t get recognized every day. My little friends grow up, and most of the seeds I plant in them, I don’t get to see bloom. So it’s really nice to get recognized, especially for all the hard work I do. It’s lovely,” Hall said.
For all the teachers out there, Hall has a message:
“Remember your why. Keep going every day because the kids need us. They need us every day,” Hall said.
